Pair a phone

   Install the counting app

   From the App Store or Play Store — the links are on the downloads page. The app is free and there is no account to create: it is useless without a hub to pair with, which is the point.

2. 02

   Open Devices on the hub

   The hub shows a pairing code. It is short, it is good for a few minutes, and it is the only moment a phone can join.

3. 03

   Enter the code on the phone

   The phone finds the hub on your own network and the two exchange a key. From then on that phone is known to that hub and no other, and the hub can revoke it at any time from the same screen.

4. 04

   Name the phone

   Give it the name of whoever carries it. The count history says who counted what, and “Mara” is worth more than a device identifier when you are looking at a variance three weeks later.

[LAST VERIFIED] The pairing screen is the one most likely to change. Date-stamp this page and re-check it on every release — a doc that describes a dialog which no longer exists costs more trust than having no doc at all.
